Telling the Bees: Carl Guerci

Carl Guerci, longtime MSBA Board member, past president of the Anne Arundel Beekeepers, and friend of bees passed away on November 9, 2024 after several months of declining health. Carl had been both a County VP and a Director of this organization.

Carl had been a beekeeper for about 20 years, and a mainstay to mentees and community members in the Anne Arundel Area. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen several years ago, and is survived by his son, Thomas, of Midlothian, Virginia.

He donated his beekeeping equipment to the Anne Arundel Beekeepers, who encouraged members to purchase it this Spring: "All are welcome to help keep Carl’s love of bees going."

Carl was profiled in the Capital Gazette and Baltimore sun in 2019 as part of efforts by Anne Arundel County, Annapolis and Highland Beach to make their jurisdictions safer for pollinators like honeybees. The three communities resolved to reduce or eliminate the use of harmful pesticides.

Carl's gentle spirit and helping hands will be missed in his neighborhood, in the local beekeeping community, and at MSBA.
