John Kovac: Telling the Bees

The Susquehanna Beekeepers of Maryland report with sadness that SBA member and former MSBA member John Kovac passed away on October 29, 2025 at the age of 68.

John had served as Treasurer for the Susquehanna Beekeepers and volunteered for many outreach events.

John's interests were a reflection of his joy for life and community involvement: he was an active member of the Susquehanna club, and his love for the outdoors was also evident in his participation with the Notre Dame Golf Club, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends and family.

As the beloved husband of Linda May Kovac for 45 years, John was a testament to enduring love and partnership. He was also a devoted father who took immense pride in his family, including his cherished daughter Julie Jenkins and her husband Jeff. John's family was the cornerstone of his life, and his unwavering support and guidance were the foundations of their home.

John's professional journey was marked by commitment and excellence. After graduating from Archbishop Curley in 1975, he pursued higher education with vigor, earning his degree from the University of Baltimore followed by a Master's Degree from Johns Hopkins. John's career at Aberdeen Proving Ground was distinguished and fulfilling, leading to his retirement in 2012. Thereafter, he channeled his passion and expertise into the realm of real estate, becoming a respected landlord and property manager.

Go tell the bees that John has gone,

His spirit hums in every bee.
