This year’s Eastern Apicultural Society annual Short Course and Main Conference took place in Cherry Hill, NJ. From 27 July through 1 August.
With themes focusing on bee health, foraging and sustainability, workshops and field trips it was a great event.
A major goal of this year’s conference was to provide hands-on workshops, both scientific and artistic. Drs. Rogan Tokach & Dan Aurell from Auburn University gave lectures on the Tropilaelaps mite and ran three workshops featuring identification of the Tropilaelaps mite versus the Varroa destructor mite.
Artistic workshops included Felting and Cyanotypes with Pressed Plants with Dr. Deborah Delaney, Encaustic Collage with Sandra Koberlien, Ukrainian Pysanky with Petrusia Kotlar, and a series of Cooking with Honey with Adam Hickman.
Conference also featured auctions (live, silent, and virtual), bee olympics, painted hives, honey show, apitherapy and a large vendor hall.
A special shout-out to Susan Warner who completed and was awarded her Master Beekeeper Certificate…Way to go Susan!
